Really enjoying having time to read mysteries. Recommend “Long Gone” by Alafair Burke, and “Sister” by Rosamnd Lupton is beyond fabulous!

Flat Ann (FLAN) learned a lot about her camera from a photography expert today. Now to practice what she learned.

I felt so decadent taking a morning ballet class today! I had teacher I last took from 15 years ago and she remembered me! And who should walk in to take the same class but Jim S.!

Afterwards on this rainy day I made like Bao Bao (the baby panda at National Zoo) and slept! The last few weeks at work were very busy and I am realizing that I am very tired. Then I went into the zoo to work the panda cams and watch Bao Bao sleep some more! The strange thing is–I don’t feel like I’m on sabbatical; I feel like I took a couple of days off from work. I know it will take awhile to unwind, but it just hasn’t sunk in that this sabbatical is really here.

Dear friends,
My heart is filled with gratitude at the wonderful send-off you gave me at Shrine Mont. I was particularly touched as you all lined up to say good-bye and wish me well after the service on Sunday. As I talked with many of you about my sabbatical over the weekend, your excitement and enthusiasm made me even more excited! For those of you who were not there, a group of folks sang a song to the tune of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” It was hilarious and perfect! My thanks to all of you who made that possible. And you did surprise me!
Since I’m normally off on Monday, today was like any other Monday. I worked at the zoo as I do each week studying rhea behavior. I also saw the movie “Noah” (which I do not recommend), but getting together with a friend for movie and dinner was great! I will miss you all and will certainly keep you in my prayers. Please keep me in yours.
Ann
