For reasons she doesn’t understand, lions deeply touch Ann’s soul. Nothing excites her more than the opportunity to study them in the wild. In an extension of her work at the National Zoo, she participated in a lion research project led by Shivani Bhalla. 

Ms. Bhalla’s Ewaso Lion Project has made great strides in the conservation of lions in Samburu, in northern Kenya.  At the end of Ann’s time in northern Kenya, she spent a few days in the Maasai Mara witnessing the annual migration and then a few days resting on Lamu Island.
